Bio Sponge is made of premium quality material that is performing double duty as an effective mechanical and biological filter media. Its large porous surface area supports extensive beneficial (nitrifying) bacteria growth while effectively capturing small particles and debris, particularly those that are not retained by the first stage of foam filtration. The RF Bio Sponge is made of non toxic filter material that can effectively breakdown toxic ammonia and nitrate.
