ky aqua soil

Processed from high-purity natural black earth, this substrate provides an active nutrient base designed specifically for lush planted aquascapes. Its uniform granules and colloid structure prevent soil compaction while actively binding fine suspended debris from the water column. By reducing overall water hardness and creating a slightly acidic environment, it gives delicate root systems immediate access to nutrition while maintaining long-term parameter stability.

Set up your soil bed (Step-by-Step Guide)

  • Step 1 — Layout Base: Spread dry soil evenly across the aquarium floor. You can slope the substrate higher toward the back to create natural visual depth.
  • Step 2 — Mist & Dampen: Spray the surface with water until thoroughly moist before filling.
  • Step 3 — Gentle Fill: Place a plastic sheet, plate, or mug over the soil and pour water slowly to avoid disturbing the bed or clouding the tank.
  • Step 4 — Plant & Filter: Fill until plants are covered, complete your aquascape layout, and engage filtration to clear initial setup cloudiness within a few hours.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to wash or rinse this Aqua Soil before using it?

No. Do not wash or rinse the Aqua Soil before use. Open the bag and pour it directly into your dry tank setup.

What should I do if the water gets cloudy after filling?

Initial cloudiness is normal after filling. To minimize cloudiness during setup, damp the soil first and pour water gently onto a plate or plastic sheet. Any remaining cloudiness will clear within a few hours once your filtration system is running.

Is this soil suitable for all types of fish?

It is designed for planted tanks, tropical fish, and freshwater shrimp. It is not recommended for bottom-dwelling fish species that constantly dig up or stir the substrate bed.
