Water is drawn from your aquarium through the intake hose and passed directly across the internal UV sterilizer first, neutralizing free-floating green algae, pathogens, and bacteria upon entry. The water then flows down and travels upward through the multi-stage media baskets (cleaning it mechanically, chemically, and biologically) before the quiet pump pushes polished, healthy water back into your tank.
How does the priming function work during initial setup?

Fill the canister main body about 80% full with aquarium water, secure the motor head latches, open the quick-release valve levers, and plug the unit in. The EC self-priming motor automatically purges trapped air and establishes the siphon loop.
How often should I clean the filter and replace media?

Rinse mechanical sponges and biological media in bucketed aquarium water (never tap water) every 4 to 6 weeks to preserve beneficial bacteria. Replace chemical media like activated carbon every 3 to 4 weeks.
