Seiryu Stone is a dense, heavy rock, so individual pieces often weigh more than they look. For a standard aquascape or Iwagumi layout, a good rule of thumb is 2 kg of rock per 10 liters of tank capacity to ensure you have enough main centerpieces and smaller accent stones to build depth.
Yes. Seiryu Stone naturally contains calcium carbonate, which slowly leaches into the water over time. This will gradually increase both your pH and your water hardness (GH and KH).
Yes, provided you manage the water chemistry. While many tropical fish and plants prefer soft, slightly acidic water, you can easily offset the hardening effect of Seiryu Stone with regular water changes, using RO (reverse osmosis) water, or using an active aquascaping soil that naturally buffers pH down.
At minimum, give it a thorough rinse with fresh water and scrub away any surface dirt or clay trapped in the crevices. Some aquascapers choose to perform a brief muriatic or citric acid bath to clean deep crevices and highlight the white calcite veining, though a simple freshwater wash is all that is required.
